For the month of May, we will give thanks and continue praying for believers across 31 cities in the Land of Daniel and Esther.

Lord God, thank You for Rogheyeh in Ardabil, Iran, and for those she leads in humanitarian aid. Thank You for giving her compassion that moves toward suffering rather than away from it. According to Psalm 68:6, You set the solitary in families. Use Rogheyeh and her team to bring not only relief, but also dignity and belonging.

Give them wisdom to identify urgent needs and grace as they serve with humility. Let food, shelter, medicine, and practical help reach the right people. Protect them from disorder and from discouragement, and give Rogheyeh strength to lead with tenderness and with sound judgment. Let the lonely find care, the displaced find stability, and the grieving find comfort through this work. Use their hands to make Your kindness visible. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Today: DAMASCUS, Syria

I live in Damascus, the city once called “the pearl of the East.” Even now, as I walk its streets, I can still feel echoes of its former beauty — the fragrance of jasmine, the call to prayer rising between ancient stones, the hum of markets that never truly sleep. Yet beneath it all lies sorrow. Since the war began in 2011, our land has bled and burned. Just a few hours away, Homs, once a vibrant center of life, became one of the first cities to fall into devastation — its people scattered, its neighborhoods reduced to rubble.

More than a decade later, we are still trying to rebuild. Our government was toppled, and there are many unknown days ahead. But even in the ashes, God is moving.

Now, as the nation begins to stabilize, a new opportunity has come. Some believers are returning home, carrying hope where despair once reigned. We know the risk, but we also know the Pearl of great price — the treasure no one can destroy. The same Messiah who met Saul on the road to Damascus is still meeting hearts today. And we believe He will one day restore Syria, not through power or politics, but through His peace.
