Prayer Fuel

During the month of August we will offer prayers for those asking God to send additional workers into the fields where they serve.  

“Father in Heaven, today we lift up Mary, who is asking You for a new women’s house church leader among the Yazidis near Mosul, Iraq. Provide a leader who cares for people more than position. Help her guide the group toward Scripture and create space for every member to participate. As Mary prays and watches for Your answer, guide her by Your Spirit. Keep Mary attentive to the people already nearby. Let a simple conversation become the beginning of something only You could have arranged.

According to Joel 2:29, “And also on the servants and on the handmaids in those days, I will pour out my Spirit.” Let no social position place anyone beyond Your calling. Pour out Your Spirit on willing servants, and give them words that point others to Jesus. We ask You to make these words real for Mary. Bring an answer with Your fingerprints on it, something that cannot be credited to strategy alone. Give Mary a woman who can hold the group together with kindness while directing attention back to Jesus and His Word. From the beginning protect the from pride or hurry, and let Jesus remain at the center. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

110 City General Focus for August is West and Central Africa

Today: NIAMEY, Niger

I live in Niamey, the capital of Niger, where the river winds through dusty streets and life moves to the rhythm of the desert. Our country is young — more than three-quarters of our people are under 29 — and though we have great energy and potential, we also face deep poverty. Many struggle daily just to find food, work, and stability.

Niamey is the heart of our nation. It’s a place of contrasts — small industries beside street vendors, government buildings rising next to crowded neighborhoods, the sound of motorcycles blending with the call to prayer from the Grand Mosque. Most of our people are Muslim, faithful and devout, yet many are weary, searching for peace that rituals cannot bring.

I see both need and opportunity all around me. The young people of Niger are hungry for purpose, longing for hope that lasts. Though the Church here is small and often misunderstood, it stands with quiet courage — sharing Christ’s love through education, compassion, and prayer. I believe God is preparing a new generation in Niger to rise up, to know Him deeply, and to lead this land into His light.

Prayer for Today:

Pray for believers in Niamey to be strengthened in faith and boldness as they share the Gospel with love and humility. (Ephesians 6:19–20)
