Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church

Field Team Daily Prayer Request:

For the month of May, we will give thanks and continue praying for believers across 31 cities in the Land of Daniel and Esther.

Heavenly Father, on this Global Day of Prayer for the Body of Christ, we thank You for Zohreh in the metro area of Sari, Iran, and for those she leads in literature distribution. As we remember the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church, and as believers around the world seek empowerment to bear witness in power, we lift Zohreh and her team to You. Thank You for her faithfulness in helping truth travel quietly and widely. According to Psalm 119:90, Your faithfulness endures to all generations. Let that faithfulness be seen in every piece of Scripture, teaching, and Gospel material sent out through this work.

Give Zohreh careful judgment and perseverance over time, and protect the people serving with her from fear and from unnecessary risk. Guide each page to the right person in the right place. Let those who read find light and conviction, just as those who heard Peter’s preaching at Pentecost were cut to the heart. Strengthen believers through these materials while awakening seekers to the truth. Keep Zohreh steady when fruit cannot yet be seen, and let her story be multiplied throughout the global church. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

110 City Focus for May is Isaiah 19 Highway Cities in Middle East

Today: BEIRUT, Lebanon

I live in Beirut, one of the world’s oldest cities — a place where history clings to every stone and the sea breeze carries both beauty and sorrow. Once, Beirut was called “the Paris of the East,” a hub of intellect, art, and culture. But decades of war, corruption, and tragedy have left deep scars on our city. We are a people trying to rebuild — again and again — from the ruins.

In the past decade, over 1.5 million Syrian refugees have poured into Lebanon, straining an already fragile economy. Then came the pandemic, the explosion of August 4, 2020, and a financial collapse that turned savings into dust. Many here call Lebanon a “failed state.” Yet even as systems crumble, I see something unshakable: the Church rising in love.

Everywhere, believers are feeding the hungry, comforting the broken, and praying for renewal. In the middle of despair, the light of Jesus shines through compassion and faith. We are not many, but we are steadfast — carrying hope into hospitals, refugee camps, and ruined streets. I believe that what the enemy meant for destruction, God will use for redemption. And one day, Beirut will not only be rebuilt in stone, but in spirit — a city known for the radiance of Christ’s love.
