“Jesus…has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 9:17
Author and Finisher of Faith, You write truth on hearts, give sight to the blind, and bring healing where no one else can. Today, we lift up Zahra and her team in and around Mosul, Iraq. You are birthing a new spiritual revolution from the seeds of mercy and grace sown over the last decade. We ask that You bring to life, by the power of Your Spirit, a movement of Jesus Followers marked by courage, freedom, wisdom, and joy. Just as You spoke a prophetic and life-giving word to Ananias in Acts 9:17, we ask that You speak to Zahra and to a new generation: “Jesus…has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Anoint Zahra and her team as they lay hands on the sick. Bring healing in Your great name, and restore the spiritual sight to those whose hearts have been far off. Let those who were once blind to the truth now see clearly. Raise up bold new disciples who will share Jesus with family, friends, and whole tribes. In Jesus’ name, Amen. |

When Iraq was at the height of its stability and economic stature in the ’70s, Muslims revered the nation as the cosmopolitan center of the Arab world. However, after enduring seemingly constant war and conflict over the past 30 years, this emblem feels like a fading memory to its people.
With unprecedented population growth and continued economic instability, a window of opportunity has opened for the existing Jesus followers in Iraq to heal their fractured nation through the shalom of God found only in the Prince of Peace. Mosul, the capital of Ninawa governorate, is Iraq’s second-largest city.
The population has traditionally consisted of Kurds and a significant minority of Christian Arabs. After much ethnic conflict, in June 2014, the city fell to the ISIL. In 2017, Iraqi and Kurdish forces finally pushed out the Sunni insurgents. Since then, efforts have been in place to restore the war-torn region.
