“…and Jason has welcomed them into his house. They are all defying Caesar’s decrees, saying that there is another king, one called Jesus.” Acts 17:7
King of the Universe, Today we pray for the great city of Lagos, Nigeria, for all the believers there, especially for Salma and the women’s teams ministering among Muslims. Grant her favor among young women, mothers, and grandmothers and open doors of ministry among men as well. On the university campus and outside the mosques, grant Salma here teams favor and protection so that movements can multiply from Lagos throughout the northern part of Nigeria and spread throughout West Africa. According to Your word in Acts 71:7, move on people like Jason, who will “open their homes” and welcome Salma and her teams. May they celebrate Jesus as King of the Universe and Savior of the world. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. |

Nigeria is a country located on the western coast of Africa. Nigeria has a diverse geography, ranging from arid to humid equatorial climates. However, Nigeria’s most diverse feature is its people. Hundreds of languages are spoken in the country, and there are an estimated 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria. South Nigeria is the most economically developed part of Nigeria as the country’s major industrial centers, and natural resources are concentrated in the region. In the arid north, Jesus followers live their lives under the constant threat of attack from Boko Haram, the Islamist extremist group.
Persecution in Nigeria has been brutally violent in recent years as extremists aim to rid Nigeria of all Christians. In addition to terrorism, Nigeria is dealing with many social challenges, from food shortages to abandoned children. Despite being Africa’s wealthiest, most populous nation, more than half of the country lives below the poverty line. Northern Nigeria suffers the world’s third-highest level of chronic undernutrition among children.
Lagos, the former capital, retains its standing as the country’s leading commercial and industrial city. After 1975 a new national capital, centrally situated near Abuja, was developed to replace Lagos, which suffered from slums, environmental pollution, and traffic congestion. Systemic deterioration such as this poses a significant challenge for the central government but a tremendous opportunity for the Nigerian church to advance the Kingdom of God through words, works, and wonders.
